My local rangemaster is being confusing about range rules, how should I respond?

Question

Recently, I sent an email to my local range asking to clarify the following rule.

  • No shotgun firing on the rifle range and pistol range EXCEPT slugs on paper targets.

"Is the firing of any round that shoots more than one projectile prohibited on the pistol and rifle range, regardless of what gun it is fired from? For example, shooting a shotgun shell out of a Taurus Judge revolver, multiple round balls out of a smoothbore Brown Bess musket or a pest control round out of a Glock 19."

Here is their response...

"we do not want people shooting shotguns with shot shells at clay targets or other targets on the rifle and pistol range.  It is ok to shoot your Judge but not the other weapons.  Let us know if you have other questions."

I feel like I have more questions than when I originally emailed them. How should I respond to this?
