how long before the game did the puppet frenzy happen?

So i just started the game I just left Hotel Krat to go to Elysium Row and i had a question about the lore of the game

How long before the events of the story did the puppet frenzy/overthrow happen? days to weeks or months to years ago?

if that’s like a spoiler-y thing that would ruin my experience w the game then don’t tell me
