How to be happier?
I’m in my early 30s, staying with my mum and younger siblings. Things went out of control when my dad passed away 10 years ago. Since 2024, I have been struggling with my emotional and mental health after pivoting my career into marketing for FMCG.
My mum has always been a housewife for 30 years. After my dad passing, she is addicted to devices, dramatic dramas, sleeping late/don’t sleep at night, always thinks she’s right and your solutions are not solutions, my kids are here to “work” for me (give me allowance, do all house chores, listen to her commands..) and unable to express gratitude when her kid/someone has helped her.
I feel very stressed and depressed whenever she doesn’t offer to help her kids and kept pushing the blame to others or keep complaining and scolding at night/middle of the night e.g. 2am. Sometimes I feel like running away from her and disowning her. But I know that’s not right. I try to hang out with my friends but I don’t feel as happy as before. I don’t share this with my manager or colleagues because this is something personal and I don’t want to let them know.
What should I do to be happier?
