Everything went sideways and baby boy is still absolutely amazing!

My water broke bright and early yesterday morning before contractions even started so we went to the hospital and were admitted immediately and set up. My contractions weren’t strong enough to do much so we started Pitocin which ramped them up… however 17 hours later I was stuck at 8cm dilated which lasted for 6 hours. It was a roller coaster of trying positions (I did get the epidural at 7cm dilated so the positions were real interesting!) I did not aim for a C-section, but it was what was safest for baby as every time we pushed for a higher Pitocin amount his heart rate dropped. So, I gave birth to my perfect baby boy this morning via c-section and I just want all ftm’s out there to know that things sometimes don’t go as planned but that doesn’t mean your birth was a failure or that you failed in your birthing experience. You’re still strong and badass!

Turns out the umbilical cord was wrapped around his little feetsies and as much as he tried (this boy had the longest cone head I’ve ever seen) he would not have come out with a vaginal birth.

I do hope that everyone’s birth goes just as they planned, but just a little encouragement to those who might not have the experience they were hoping for.
