am i locked out of getting certain armor sets and gear bcs i killed rykard?

i recently went to volcano manor and started the quests there and i received the red letter and such but when i talked to the other npcs after they didn’t give me any letters and now ive already killed rykard. is this all bcs i accidentally killed patches or did i just screw up in some other way?
