Problems with matchmaking

I just want to know if anyone else is having this problem, but from my point of view it seems like no one in playing the event. As example, there is 15k-20k player in the game on steam at most times of the day, but the event has barely 250 people in it. Is it just that no one plays in NA servers or is it something else.
