Pokemon Black cheats not working

As the title says i downloaded pokemon black to Emudeck and also RetroArch. I downloaded a cheat file and turned the infinite $$ glitch on, but no luck in game. I made sure the cheats were applied and that the handler was set to emulator but it still didnt work. I tried doing the same but changing the handler to retroarch and still no luck. Any idea why my cheats are loading and able to be applied but not actually working in retro or emudeck? I also tried a few different file downloads and I havent gotten 1 cheat to work
