Should I audition to join this band?

I saw a poster to audition to be in a band, I recently started to play bass guitar I think im doing pretty well, I can read sheet music well (with tabs/ sliding ect) but i find it a lil hard to play just by reading as i need the sound of the song aswell to know the timing ect. I can play only a little by ear as I've done 3 songs by ear but I don't do this often I did it in a day, many songs I can't though as the tabs were quite simple. I think I've been playing for 2-3 maybe 4 months now im having guitar lessons every Saturday too. I saw a poster asking for a female bassist and a drummer so I thought I'd audition for bassist but im unsure if id make it. im going to ask my guitar teacher about it but do you have any advice?
