Lost my ability to learn and create
I can learn something new if it's repetitive and doesn't really require me to understand anything conceptual or think too hard. For example, I can learn how to read a new language because I'm just mapping characters to sounds in my head. It's more difficult to learn to speak and understand the actual language itself, since there's more context you have to understand behind every word or phrase, but it's not impossible. Another example: I can learn how to crochet if I'm following a pattern, but I have to be going by the book - I can't be creative or think outside the box no matter how hard I try.
I can't even remember if I ever had the ability to learn things conceptually? And then apply those things? In school I think I was just good at memorizing things or recognizing patterns, but I do also think I had some general problem-solving ability too. Now at my job I feel like I'm at square zero, like I never learned anything in my life. I understand nothing, and no amount of reading or listening gets it through my skull. I can only follow tutorials for mindless tasks.
I know for a fact I used to be a person who had ideas, be they at school or my own personal projects. I used to think of myself as a fairly creative person. Now I got nothing, not even the things I considered my hobbies.
What's going on? It can't be meds, because I feel like this has been on a decline since before I started. Is my brain just turning to mush? Is this what burnout feels like?
Sorry for the rambling lol
