Any recent Project Hail Mary readers?! Spoilers!
Hey everyone! Burnie’s constant chatter of excitement got me interested into reading Project Hail Mary.
Sci-fi like Star Trek, or leaning heavily on science has never been my thing. I’ve always been more of a StarWars kinda guy.
I enjoyed The Martian movie, and since I liked that so much, and Burnie loves Project Hail Mary, I decided to give the book a read.
WOW! What a fun ride.
I really enjoyed the format of Grace having retrograde amnesia. We as the reader learn, hand in hand with Grace as he remembers his memories. It’s a unique way to run two timelines back and forth.
Rocky was adorable, and I loved their bond that forms trying to save both their home worlds.
The science was explained well, and seems plausible all the way through the book. I’m sure scholars and scientists probably have issues somewhere with it. For the layman like me, I really enjoyed all the work put into the science and explanations that were in the book.
It’s a great Hero’s Journey, with a twist as well. Our hero never wanted to go on the journey… That part was sooooooo hard to read. Grace didn’t want to die.
I’m glad it was happy ending for Earth, and Eridian was saved from the Astrophage. Cool that it went full circle with Grace being a science teacher again, but to aliens.
I don’t need a sequel, I don’t even need the movie. That was a great self contained story, and I’m happy to have read it. Thanks for a stellar book to read Burnie!
I listened to it at work, so thanks for making my work week 16 hours better!
Curious on if any of your readers have any thoughts?! Does the movie excite you?
