Bam Aquino Highlights Success Story of Free College Beneficiary from PLMUN

Senator Bam Aquino paid tribute to Danica Krista Tolentino, Magna Cum Laude graduate of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMUN), whose inspiring journey as a working student showcases the impact of the Free College Law.

Danica, a beneficiary of the Libreng Kolehiyo program championed by Aquino during his time in the Senate, overcame self-doubt and financial hardship to finish her degree with high honors. Her father, a jeepney driver, served as her inspiration, waking up early every day to support her dreams.

“Kapag may naniniwala sa’yo, matututo ka ring maniwala sa sarili,” said Danica, who expressed her deep gratitude to her teachers and family for their unwavering support. She added that the one person she wished to see in the audience during graduation was her father.

Aquino emphasized that stories like Danica’s prove the importance of investing in youth. “Kapag may tiwala ang lipunan sa kabataan — tulad ng Libreng Kolehiyo — lumalawak ang oportunidad, tumitibay ang loob, at mas maraming kwento ng tagumpay at pag-asa ang nabubuo,” he said.

He called for continued support for education reforms and more inclusive opportunities to ensure that students like Danica all over the country can pursue their dreams without being held back by poverty.

“Saludo kami sa’yo, Danica — at sa lahat ng kabataang buong tapang na nilalaban ang kanilang pangarap,” Aquino concluded.
