License Revocation Depression Diagnosis

Location: Nebraska

In October of 2024 I got cited for DUI Over .15 after a rollover accident and had an initial administrative revocation from the DMV for 6 months, fast forward to June of 2025 and I get sentenced to house arrest and a 1 year revocation (I had to drop out of college and move in with my parents again and I lost my job) In April I had this extreme wave of depression (never felt before) and I started seriously wishing I would've died in my rollover accident but never told anyone about it. My aunt is a mental health professional, and she spent a week at our house recently and noticed that I was showing signs of severe depression (I'm 22 and have never shown any signs) so she put forth the notion that I should go get evaluated. I ended up being diagnosed with severe depression (MDD if you're wondering) and my mom and dad are wholeheartedly convinced that the state of Nebraska is at fault for the development of my depression. They want to sue the state for emotional damages but I told them it was a stupid idea and that it was a waste of money.

Realistically speaking, COULD they have grounds for a lawsuit against the state? They also brought up the fact that I lost almost $71,000 in wages due to my revocation, and got both of my cars repossessed, as well as my ability to continue college barred for 2 academic years because of my improper withdraw from courses due to my need to move back to Nebraska from South Carolina. Which in turn caused my scholarships that covered almost 70% of my tuition to be taken away.

I personally haven't taken any actions against the state, nor even thought about it because at the end of the day, I'm just living with the consequences of my actions and I see it fair despite the total loss of my life that I worked very hard to build.

Just to make it clear because I know that was a lot, nobody is disputing the grounds nor execution of revocation, my parents are wanting to sue the state because their once "successful" and genuinely truly happy kid (me) is now suffering from MDD and they see it as a direct effect of the states required ruling to revoke my license.
