So confused after my consult

I just went over my X-rays I got last week with my ortho. I’ve experienced condylar resorption on my right side which explains the mandibular asymmetry, but not the significant recession I have (there are pics if you scroll down on my profile). He also said my airway is big, with a volume of over 200 whatever that means. I am getting referred for a consult with a surgeon, but I’m not expecting much. My overbite isn’t bad, it’s just the asymmetry which causes my bite to be uneven.

Ortho has recommended splint therapy which I plan to do, but should I just get a genioplasty instead of trying to go down the jaw surgery route? I would be relying on insurance coverage for jaw surgery and it doesn’t sound like it would be covered if I went down that route.
