what to expect!
i recently just took my nclex (results still pending ahhh) and was sooo anxious about the process leading up to it and the actual exam so here are some tips/what to expect going into it for my fellow anxious people: -make sure you have your ID (and that it matches the name/address you registered under)!!! they will not accept you if you don’t have it. -also be sure you have received an email from pearson confirming your testing date. (they won’t ask for this if your name is already on the list) -when you walk into the testing center you will be given a set of rules and a number that they will call you up with -when they call you up you will give them your ID, they’ll seal your electronics in a bag, take your picture, scan your palms, and ask if you have any questions. they’ll instruct you to put your belongings in a locker and then tell you to go to the testing room. -the administrator of the testing room will ask for your ID, scan your palms again, ask you to pat yourself down, offer you ear plugs, and then guide you to your seat, log you in, and you will begin your exam! -you’ll be provided a whiteboard and marker to take notes on. -try your best to stay relaxed! nursing school has taught you more than you think, and you’ve studied so hard for this. -your test will shut off anywhere between 85 and 150 questions which seems stressful, it is based on a confidence interval! just because you got 85 questions doesn’t mean you failed, same goes for 150 questions. the computer will keep going until it is 95% sure you have competency in the skills the questions have tested you on. -after your exam, you will retrieve your belongings from your locker and have one of the staff members cut your bag of electronics open (you cannot open it yourself)
good luck to anyone taking their test soon, you’ve got this in the bag 😊🫶🏻
