Microcontroller bluetooth speaker DAC resolution

Hello! I am thinking of building my own Bluetooth speaker using a microcontroller. I was considering the ESP32 as it already has a built in bluetooth module, but upon further research the on board DAC's have only 8 bit resolution. This doesn't intuitively seem sufficient, but the discretization of the analog voltage was never really dived much into in my DSP course. Some insight on the consequences of choosing low resolution DAC would be helpful. And perhaps suggestions regarding choice of microcontrollers. Thanks!
