Best age to fully wean (EBF) after one
My little one is coming up to 14 months and has been EBF since birth. He refused bottles both with formula and breast milk. He’s a fairly average eater with solids - eats three meals and snacks with some ups and downs in appetite.
He still breastfeeds at least three times a day - sometimes more on the weekends. I’ve tried “don’t offer don’t refuse” up until recently, but some days he will sign for milk 6+ times. More recently I’ve tried to offer a drink or snack instead outside of morning and bedtime, but he absolutely will not accept these and just cries until I give in.
Before I fully commit to cutting back to these two feeds now and dealing with the tantrums, I wondered if there is a particularly good age to wean where they don’t get so upset? Ideally I’d stop altogether now (gradually, I’ve heard the hormones are killer) but if the consensus comes back that it’s much easier at 18months for instance then I can stick it out a bit longer!
