R NineT or Moto Guzzi
Just put 40k miles on an R NineT Urban GS. Really liked the character and finish. I came from mountain biking, so I wanted a bike that looked dirt ready, and I LOVED the color combo, but of course, I only went camping once, I'm not a ADV or dirt guy. Got tired of the upright position with the bars and the big front wheel.
Always liked the Guzzi V7 Racer with the chrome tank, red frame, naked setup, ohlins, baby clip-ons, air cooled, shaft drive. I know they're slow but I like "slow bike fast". I know they're quirky, but I live in a big city with Guzzi mechanics.
I've got a vintage BMW, R65LS. But I want two bikes, one that is "modern" or "retro" with fuel injection, ABS, etc, and one that is proper vintage. But I want both to be cafe-ish. Retro Sport Tourer. Cafe tourer.
Tried a Ducati Supersport S. Lovely suspension. Beautiful white. Didn't love it's "character". Sport bikes aren't for me.
So I'm trying to decide:
- Proper used R NineT with the USD S1000 forks, probably in black, maybe the "bare" aluminum.
- R NineT Racer - would need to upgrade the suspension, thats fine. Whatever.
- Moto Guzzi V7/3 (or 2) Racer (clip-ons! Ohlins!)
- New Moto Guzzi V7 Sport 850 (USD fork, no ohlins)
Not really into Japanese bikes or Ducati. Scrambler Cafe Racer is cool, but I don't want chain drive, or to deal with Desmo service.
