2016 Mazda 2 SCBS issue

Hi!

I'm from the UK and I've got a 2016 Mazda 2 SE-L. I've recently had an amber SCBS light illuminate on the dash. It clears itself when I switch the engine off and back on, but regularly pops up after about 15 minutes or so of driving. I've cleaned the windscreen etc so nothing's obstructing the sensor, but this hasn't worked. I switched the SCBS system off today, but near the end of my journey, the amber light illuminated again. (Why would it detect an issue if the system is supposedly off?)

Can I ignore this light? Or can it cause issues? The SCBS isn't really a feature I'm bothered about having on the car tbh. I've read conflicting information online where people have said it's randomly and incorrectly applied the brakes, but then I've also been told (and read it in the car's manual) that if the SCBS amber light comes on, the system will not operate.
