Become a cop or stay in tech?
I'm a network engineer for the past 2 years, but lately, I've been fed up with networking.
I feel like I don't enjoy it the way others do. While I'm good at it (I'm CCNP certified, if that means anything), I don’t wake up excited to do the job.
I have a contract with my current company that ends in a year and a half. When that contract ends, I’m thinking about maybe moving into system administration, or doing something entirely different, like becoming a police officer.
The thing is, I want to live life a bit more on the edge, and being a cop has always appealed to that side of me. But the salary difference is hard to ignore.
A police officer makes around 30k a year, while a system administrator earns about 45k after tax. On top of that, a cop works irregular hours and the job can be demanding.
So it's a tough choice...
