Dynamic template for photo book?

I'm new at InDesign, only learning it to tackle a specific project. Been reading about templates - what I need to do is be able to upload text and photos from a database (think journal entries) into a template that can be printed (using API) as a photo book without any manual editing.

I've used the Google and talked to Chad(gpt), but if there are any tips that may not show up in search I'd be much obliged.
