When did sleep begin to normalize for you?
I’m (49F) so happy I found this sub a few days ago, it’s been so helpful and informative. I’ve read through many posts and comments and have learned so much.
I gave up cannabis 38 days ago (5.5 weeks) because I am starting a new schooling program in mid-August and it requires testing (hoping I’m clean by then).
It wasn’t too hard for me to stop as I don’t really like the feeling of being high. I started using about 10 years ago to help with my Restless Legs Syndrome and at the time, it was the only thing that gave me relief. I would only smoke 1-3 hits of a vape before bed, that’s it. But nightly.
I’m now on medsfor RLS and it helps tremendously. Since quitting herb, I’ve had a few episodes of it, but I now understand that’s to be expected.
I’ve also had the night sweats (those are getting a lot better), vivid dreams on occasion, weird mood swings (those are almost all better), and my appetite is also becoming regular again.
However, my sleep is so disrupted still. I fall asleep okay, around 10pm, but wake every hour - like wide awake - and can’t fall back asleep for 15-30 minutes. This cycle repeats all night until I’m wide awake again at 5:30am and just usually get up. This is happening every night and doesn’t seem to be improving.
I have two cups of coffee in the morning and no more caffeine the rest of the day. I walk 3-4 miles a day. I practice good sleep hygiene. I don’t drink alcohol. I take mag-nesium and other vits.
I’m so frustrated. And tired.
When did sleep begin to normalize for you guys? I’d love to be able to sleep for more than 30-45 minutes at a time. Any tips?
