Are they all assholes?

Little unfortunate that I'm writing this right now. I remember about a year and some change ago, I posted to this Reddit about how excited I was when I got accepted, asking all these questions for insight. Genuinely looking forward to being apart of a union. But now it's just like… yea fuck that man. I can admittedly say that I was mentally pushed away from this line of work due to the work environment I was introduced to, as well as the crew. It really just seems like in this line of work that's supposed to be union, you're just running into a lot of sadism. Prejudice. You're running into a lot of misery and assholes, you know. And I can bark back, that’s not the issue here. The issue is when it becomes so repetitive and habitual that it seems like you don’t even wanna hold a regular conversation with me without feeling like you need to have a condescending tone. I know you’ve been doing this work for years and I just got here, but im a human too. And im just trying to learn man. It also didn't help that on the first day I got to the job site, I'm getting told by everyone that my foreman hates first-year apprentices and most of my crew reciprocated that same energy. It's just unfortunate, man. I arrived with an all positive mindset and the first thing I was met with was hostility. And that energy just kept trickling down. Overtime enduring it all I was noticeably getting better at things, realizing my own progression mentally and physically, even meeting some great people in between the bullshit. But in the end it was all for nothing. Waking up miserable every morning at 4:30am plus having to deal with being a punching bag at work lmfao. I’m good man. I’ve experienced assholes in workplaces before, but that environment was the worst shit ever. Glad I learned what I did, but I have 0 desire to apply anything I learned anywhere else. Never want to touch a site again. Saw a post about a first year lady getting heckled and yelled at on her site after being there only 4 days. Pisses me the fuck off man. Be a better person. This world already fucking sucks.

And stop telling apprentices “it goes by fast”. No it doesn’t.
