r/VacuumCleaners is awesome. Eureka customer support is useless.

Vacuum Issues

A few days ago I had a problem with my Eureka vacuum that I just couldn't figure out the solution to. I posted a photo hereand within a few hours a very helpful Redditor noticed that I was missing a piece, which I then found in the trash, where it had fallen off when I was emptying the dust cup. Problem solved.

That same day, I called Eureka customer support. To their credit, I was able to speak to a rep very quickly. She listened to the problem, asked the basic questions (Is it plugged in? Is the hose clogged?) and then told me they'd send me an email that I could reply with proof of purchase, etc. I had to call back 2 more times because they kept taking down my name wrong, but eventually I got the email.

I responded to the email with all the info they wanted, plus the same photo I had posted to Reddit. In the email I wrote, "I do not want a refund. I do not want a replacement. I just want to figure out how to fix this thing."

Yesterday I received an email from Eureka stating that they'd reviewed my case, and because I had purchased the vacuum used off Amazon, they would not be giving me a refund. Also, I should speak to a local repairman if I needed more help (are local vacuum cleaner repairmen even still a thing?)

tl;dr: My vacuum cleaner was missing a part. Rather than trying to help me fix it, and pointing out the very simple issue that it was missing a part, Eureka gave me the runaround and then declined to help. Were it not for Reddit I'd still have a non-functioning vaccuum cleaner. I like my little cleaner, but I won't be buying Eureka brand again.
