HU speaker (+) outs usage.

So I've seen people in the past use the speaker outputs on an aftermarket deck to turn on an amp in the case of multiple amplifiers. If I'm not using them to power speakers, could I use them as trigger leads for a 12v relay to power other accessories, like a USB charging port, external amp cooling fan...etc? I don't want to overload the blue amp wire switched circuit. Thanks.
