How to Reach Social Prescribers and GPs for Client Referrals? Newly Qualified Counsellor Seeking Advice - UK

Hi everyone,

I’m a newly qualified counsellor starting out in private practice, and I’m trying to build up my caseload. I’d really like to connect with local social prescribers and GPs to explore the possibility of client referrals, but I’m running into a wall when it comes to contacting them directly — it’s surprisingly difficult to find their direct email addresses or any clear contact route.

Has anyone had any success with this? Would it be appropriate (and effective) to contact GP surgery receptionists and ask them to pass my details on to the relevant staff? Or is there a better way to approach this that I might be missing?

Any tips, insights, or experience you can share would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!
