Quoted $1750 for Timing Belt?..

Called a local shop and mentioned I got a code 52 and my check engine light came on shortly after. They said they have to install the timing belt kit and with labor it’s $1750… called the Chevy dealership and they have to charge $200 before anything starts to diagnose the check engine light.. anyone have any suggestions haha? Thank you.
