Looking for a picture book about a disabled black girl and a cribbage game

UNSOLVED

Hi everyone — I’ve been trying to remember the title of a picture book I read around 2008, and I’m hoping someone here might recognize it.

Here’s what I remember:

It was a picture book, not a chapter book. The main character was a Black girl, and she might have been in a wheelchair or had a disability. The story involved a group of friends — though I don’t recall all their details. There’s a scene where the main character is on a porch playing cribbage with her grandmother. A pocket watch shows up in the story — it might have been in the grandmother’s pocket or someone else’s. The book cover was either orange or yellow. The tone was warm and family-oriented. I remember the illustrations being colorful and comforting. It felt like a book about family, friendship, and maybe appreciating simple moments.

I’ve searched everywhere and can’t seem to track it down. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks so much for any help!
