The Psychology of Doomers

I’ve noticed many Doomers are intentionally contrarian and hold a set of abnormal viewpoints in order to garner attention. It’s a weird play where they post on social media about doom and gloom, seemingly enlightened as to what’s really going on. In reality, they haven’t got a clue. I would say a lot of this behavior stems from a need to be accepted by others, because they’ve been left out for most of their lives. I’d be willing to bet a lot of them didn’t have the athleticism to play a team sport in high school, got cut, and now they’re trying to show everyone how lost they are and that they're doomed when the opposite is true. Just because their life sucked and still sucks doesn’t mean they should ruin everyone else’s fun. I seriously doubt any of it has to do with genuine concern. It’s just a “look at me and how right I am” mentality and that’s just so lame to me.

They also think they’re hilarious comedians. But they rarely say anything funny.
