[TOMT] [TV or Movie] Scene where rich woman is about to run away with man, hesitates at gas station when she sees poor family nearby
Hi all—I'm trying to remember the title of a movie (or possibly an episode of a TV show) with a very specific scene. Here’s what I recall:
A wealthy woman is in a car with a man she’s planning to run away with. It’s set in modern-day America. They stop at a gas station. The man goes into the convenience store while she waits in the car.
While sitting there, she notices a sad-looking, bedraggled woman in the old and shitty car next to her, who has several crying kids inside. It feels like a glimpse into a possible future—and it unsettles her. Then, she sees her boyfriend/partner inside the convenience store, scratching a lottery ticket against the glass door, which seems to further disgust her.
When he gets back into the car, she asks if he won anything, and he replies something like, “Of course not,” in a kind of resigned or careless tone. Shortly after that, she gets a phone call—possibly from a former lover or someone from her old life—which adds to her doubt.
I originally thought it might be from Succession, but I’m pretty sure it’s not. I honestly can’t recall if it’s a movie or an episode of TV.
