Am I the jerk for telling my brother his dog isn’t welcome in my house anymore?
So here’s the deal. I (29F) finally bought my own place after years of grinding. Super proud moment for me. But my brother (32M)? He’s basically decided my house is his dog’s playground.
His dog is huge, super energetic, and not exactly. disciplined. Every time they visit, it’s chaos. Fur everywhere. Jumps on my white couch with muddy paws. Knocked over my lamp. Peed on my NEW rug. Scratched up my back door chasing a squirrel last time.
I’ve asked my brother nicely to either leave the dog at home or at least crate him when he’s here. His response? He’s family too. Like okay, but so is my furniture.
After the latest door scratch disaster, I told him no more dog at my place. Now he’s sulking and telling everyone I chose my sofa over his dog. Some of the family’s calling me heartless. Others totally get it.
So... am I the jerk for drawing the line?
