Positive CKC experience!

I had my CKC for HSIL on 6/19 and am about 2.5 weeks post op. Overall, it was a positive experience and I thought I’d share a not scary story because I just kept reading horrors before mine! 😂

I’ve never had surgery before so I was absolutely terrified of going under twilight anesthesia. The day of surgery, I was oddly calmer than I expected. I am a total control freak and was really scared of “feeling” the anesthesia kicking in lol. When it was go time, the nurse anesthetist came in and gave me something in my IV before wheeling me into the OR. I remember them having me shift over onto the operating table, and then I woke up. They were not kidding when they said I would have no memory lmao.

When I woke up, I was definitely uncomfortable but it was nothing unbearable. I had to pee pretty much immediately after opening my eyes and I had the nurse and my mom help me get up and used the restroom alone. The car ride home was fine and uneventful, I was just a little loopy. I slept well that night and my first thought waking up the next morning was “this is it?!”

I spent 5 days home and resting. I fortunately have long weekends with my work schedule so my surgery was a Friday and I went back in on Wednesday and that was perfect for me. I felt recuperated enough to function. I took pain relief the first 2 days, but afterwards was fine with Tylenol on and off. My only real complication was I got super constipated from the oxy, highly recommend stool softeners if you’re going to be taking pain killers!!!! The pain was mild period cramps at most, but the only thing that was really bothering me was I did have pretty bad lower back and hip pain. My period cramps usually do manifest into my back so I’m not sure if that’s what was going on, but after day 3 it was more tolerable. My heating pad was my best friend lol.

I had my 2 week checkup last week and I had clear margins, but they did find adenocarcinoma in situ. So I am moving forward with a hysterectomy with an oncologist. She has ordered an MRI before I see her and then onwards from there. I am hoping my hysterectomy is as smooth as this was!!!

Best of luck to all of you going through this, it’s an emotional whirlwind!
