should i get a yoga membership or a gym membership [read all]

HELLO! I’m so indecisive and need your help.

I’m f21, 5’10, 200lbs. I’d like to slim down ideally to 160 or under. I want to be toned and lean. I’ve been dieting for a month now and want to start physical exercise.

I’m VERY much not flexible in the slightest. I have terrible posture and mobility issues. I’m weak, crackly, and sore all the time. This is why yoga initially stood out to me.

However, when I get in a workout routine I start to crave it. I love getting hot and sweaty in workouts and burning calories.

Here’s the catch;

the yoga studio is $80/month unlimited classes. they have hot yoga, core training, yoga/pilates mixed classes, etc. so it sounds like i may be able to get a decent workout in some days. but when i think yoga i think quiet mindfulness, namaste, and bird poses. i think this is my stereotype though. does anyone do yoga?

Here’s the BIGGER catch:

the yoga studio is right next to my place of work, which is a 20 minute walk from my house. the gym (PF) is a 30 minute walk or a 20 minute bus ride. BUT PF has showers, and is $15 a month compared to $80. Showers is important to me because i’d ideally go in the morning before my shifts but i don’t want to show up to work sweaty.

and you may be thinking- well you live 20 minutes from home, just walk home after yoga, shower, walk back to work. a great way to get my steps in. BUT something tells me that’s a waste of time. when in reality, maybe it isn’t. I dedicate almost 2 hrs every day to watching reality tv, why can’t i dedicate this time to bettering myself? someone tell me that i have time for this.

another catch: at planet fitness i have access to many cardio machines, free weights, and open space to even do online yoga workouts. And like i mentioned….. showers. and it’s cheaper….. Ugh i just CANT! DECIDE.!!!
