I was trying to view the MKS Gen L v1.0 firmware and the light went out. How do I fix it?

I've already tried the steps in this video, and it recognizes the ATmega 2560. The light stays red even when I press reset, but it doesn't edit it. Instead, I get this error:

avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
