ge or precheck? Using a benefit of a credit card

My Chase (United) card will give $120 credit for GE, pre check or Nexus every 4 years. Since both GE and pre check are good for five years (from my research of the internet) would it be wise to just get my GE done (first time applicant) and just wait out the timeline since I do not have planned international travel in the next 6 months?

Apologies if this is a stupid question. Just trying to figure out next best steps
