I know my first time patchwork is shit. Anyways I dropped my Crown Victoria off to be inspected today and when I got it back the dude said the door had issues opened. The door was rubbing before I dropped it off but you can see the damage it was causing in the first picture at the bottom right of my fender, it was causing the fender to pull away from the rocker liner, not causing metal creasing high up along my door and fender. The paint along the body line is still intact because there was no rubbing in the first picture and the metal is completely creased in the second. It also doesn’t make sense for the fender metal to be that folded while the door remained pretty straight if they opened the door and this happened. I’m not crazy this is entirely shop negligence right? I don’t even understand what they were trying to do, the bumper is pushed into the fender from the front from a winter ditch slide so trying to fix the issue from this panel line doesn’t make sense. I also didn’t ask them to do anything about the rubbing, and have been able to open my car enough to get into it for the last two years. While technically a misaligned panel can fail in my state, I’d argue that whatever they did misaligned it much worse. Where do I go from here? Especially if they’re dishonest and say that opening my door caused this damage. Would an auto-body shop be able to tell if the damage is from panel on panel damage or if an improper alignment was performed?

How does this even happen?
