Do bugs “go bad”

my bf got me a bug pinning kit for valentine’s day and i haven’t gotten around to doing it, so much has been going on and i feel sooo bad. now im worried that the bugs have gone bad somehow?? they are still in the packaging they came in and in an air tight food container. am i overthinking this lol?
