Asilomar Camping Grounds - Is it really that bad?

I’m heading to Asilomar Conference Grounds in a couple of weeks with my family for a wedding, and I’m starting to feel a bit anxious after reading some recent reviews.

I can handle rustic, but I’m getting nervous about reports of bugs, spiders, mold, and general cleanliness issues.

We’ll have kids with us, so I’m just trying to set realistic expectations. For anyone who’s stayed there recently: Is it really as bad as some of the reviews make it sound? Are certain buildings or rooms better than others?
