Looking for a Hall Effect keyboard that types like a chiclet?

Help

Looking for some help finding a keyboard that fits this setup:

  • Budget: Flexible, willing to go all out for an endgame board if it ticks all my boxes.
  • Size: Prefer 100%, but not a must — I’d like to keep the function row and numpad if possible, but it’s not a dealbreaker
  • Other: Must have Hall Effect switches. Low profile or chiclet-like typing feel is top priority. Hot-swappable or custom keycap support is a big plus. I don’t care about sound, color, wireless/wired, or materials — just the way it types.

I mainly type and game, and I’ve always preferred laptop-style keyboards. I like flat keys with low travel, no deep grooves or huge gaps between caps. The Razer BlackWidow Pro I used before felt awful to me — I’d always mistype due to the sculpted caps and spacing.

Right now I’m using a Matias RGB Aluminum Keyboard, which I actually enjoy for typing, but it doesn’t handle multiple key presses well during games. That’s why I’m looking to try Hall Effect switches — for the gaming responsiveness — but I also want something that types like a laptop or MacBook keyboard.

I know most Hall Effect keyboards tend to come in TKL or smaller, but if there’s anything that comes close to that chiclet/laptop typing feel (even with modding), I’m open to it:

  • Low profile Hall Effect with flat/custom keycaps
  • Hot-swappable board I can mod to type the way I want
  • Or even a DIY suggestion that gets me close to that experience

Also — just to be clear — I don’t care how it sounds at all. As long as it types right, I’m happy.

Would appreciate any leads — thanks in advance!
