Isn't the ship a bit small for a train?

First off: loving the game, gets better the more I play it.

Just got to the part where I learned there's an entire train in the ship, so out of curiosity I looked up how big the ship is.

1.6km

Is that right? That's not even a mile long, why do they need a whole-ass train?
