Does applying for jobs outside of Texas count as a work search activity?

Do job applications count if they're for positions located outside of Texas? I got fired from my Texas job due to performance deficiencies. My long-term goal is to leave Texas. I am applying to jobs in other states. These still count towards work search activities, right?
