Love and Bipolar
I’m 18 (19 in 10 days) my gf will be 19 in 12 days, we both suffer from bipolar disorder and made it work. We both have bipolar 1 and grew up together as childhood friends, we’ve been dating for almost 3 years now. For anyone who thinks that “loving someone who suffers from the same condition isn’t possible” you’re wrong. No one understands me better than she does and we’ve been through so much together not only is she my gf but she’s my best friend.
I also suffer from BPD, CTPSD, and OSDD type 1b (used to be 2b) but idk the difference all I know is it has to do with my personality
Many people like me think it’s not possible to find love or a steady relationship but that’s not true. We’ve had our ups and downs, like any couple, but having the same diagnosis doesn’t mean we’re doomed. If anything, it’s helped us understand each other more. When I’m manic, she doesn’t freak out, she gets it. When she’s depressive, I don’t find it strange, I’ve been there. We don’t always get it perfect, but we never give up on each other.
Other people act like we’re too emotionally unstable or “emotional” but the truth is that we’re just empathic human beings
I’ve been told I’m “unstable” That my BPD makes me hard to handle. That my trauma makes me unlovable. But how she sees all of me and stays to comfort me so I can do the same, the way people like us love is more intense. We feel everything so deeply, so when we love, we love hard.
So if you’re out there thinking you’ll never find someone who gets it, I promise you can. Whether they have a disorder or not there are people out there who get it. You’re just human, and you deserve love that doesn’t run when things get tough and I promise it’s out there.
I don’t know who needs to hear this
