Convert Rustler 4x4 BL-2s into a VXL? Or older VXL into Extreme HD VXL using parts from BL-2s?

All right, I now have 3 4x4 Rustlers in the stable:

• 4x4 BL-2s 67164-4 (red, current model that includes the Extreme HD kit)
• 4x4 VXL 67376-4 (blue, current model as well that includes the Extreme HD kit)
• 4x4 VXL 67076-4 (pink, prior model that has the older linkages and components)

I'd like to mesh the parts (if possible) from the BL-2s and older model VXL so it matches my current model VXL (and will leave one car as a "nerfed" BL-2s relative to suspension components).

1. is that possible?

2. which direction between those two cars should I go? Upgrade the motor/ESC on the BL-2s or upgrade the suspension parts on the older model VXL?
