Ex-Muslims of Reddit, considering where you are how common is it that women in the family are treated well by humanist standards?

(Question/Discussion)

I’m trying to understand if most people recoil at their sisters being treated poorly or if any ex-Muslims felt righteous at subjugating them. Like are there plenty of families that try to weather the storm of the local theocracy by protecting their female family members? Is the more open Saudi Arabia for example, women get to choose to not wear a burqa? In practice were there a lot of families eager for this change? Sorry I’m trying to stop myself from thinking everyone in the Muslim world has these attitudes. So many sad stories out there maybe a loud minority.
