AirPods Max vs. Sony XM6

I decided to pick up both to see which fits for my purposes. I live in the Apple ecosystem (several Macs, iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch - I drank the koolaid) so for simplicity, APM seems like an obvious choice. Sound quality seems very similar - at least for my old ears, they both sound great. I don't mind the extra weight of the AMP, although they're certainly not as comfortable. I travel but not a lot so that isn't a dealbreaker, although I'm about an hour into a listening session and they're already starting to hurt so ... Just wondering if anyone else had done the Pepsi challenge with these two, and what you thought? I know it's a personal presence in many ways and experiences aren't necessarily transferable but share your thoughts if you have time.
