Keep the cosmetics grounded and realistic DICE, dont trend chase.

Discussion

There is definitely alot of options to choose from and plenty of real world inspiration to look at. There is also room for some tacticool looking cosmetics since it is set in the near future, and there is some freedom in that regard.

But please, just dont do what COD is doing. They lost all identity and have just been chasing the Fortnite trends. You can't even tell the past few COD games apart from each other, it's that bad. This is relevant to Battlefield because EA will see the skins in COD bringing in money, and want to replicate that.

Instead they could take advantage of the NATO and PAX ARMATA factions in game, and release cosmetics bundles for different nations for example.

Also for the people saying that "skins dont matter", if they don't matter, then you should be ok with the skins staying realistic and not goofy. The cosmetics are part of the games art direction, atmosphere, immersion, and the overall experience. I want to feel like I'm on a real Battlefield, with real soldiers. Not Nicki Minaj, not some Ninja Turtles, not Santa Claus, not some Dinosaur helmet specialist with quippy lines, not some robots. Real soldiers.

That's not to say make the game a milsim. Absolutely not. Battlefield gameplay has always been my favorite in FPS, and I can atleast count on the gameplay to be solid with every release (maybe not at launch sometimes lol) Battlefield can have milsim vibes and aesthetics, AND still deliver the classic Battlefield gameplay we all love. It doesn't have to be one or the other. BF1 is a good example of this.

If they can deliver solid gameplay, and stick with the gritty "milsim" aesthetic, all the way down to the cosmetics, they can truly stand out from other FPS titles that have just become cartoon skin slop year after year and have lost all identity in the process.

If you think about it, most FPS games are either milsim and realsitic like Sqaud and Arma, or goofy and arcadey like Fortnite and COD. Battlefield can fill in the gap, offering a great Battlefield gameplay experience while keeping an authentic, gritty, military aesthetic and atmosphere. Instead of following the Fortnite trends, Battlefield should make it's own path and stand out in the FPS genre.
