My Theory For The Vessel
The TRUE Purpose of the Vessel in Deltarune
Have you ever wondered what really happened to the Vessel in Deltarune?
What if... it wasn’t discarded?
What if it’s meant to be the next protagonist?
🎮 The Four Commands
In Undertale and Deltarune, we have four key commands:
- 🟥 FIGHT — Chara: destruction and violence
- 🟨 ACT — Kris: thoughtful interaction
- 🟦 MERCY — Frisk: compassion and forgiveness
- 🟩 ITEM — …?
All three main characters reflect those actions.
Toriel teaches Frisk to spare.
Ralsei teaches Kris to act.
Chara embodies pure attack.
But who embodies ITEM?
🧃 Everyone Uses Items — But No One Is the Item
All protagonists can use items.
So ITEM doesn’t belong to one character.
It’s not emotional like MERCY.
Not aggressive like FIGHT.
Not tactical like ACT.
ITEM is neutral.
It’s support, preservation, the will to continue.
🕳️ The Forgotten Vessel
At the start of Deltarune, we’re asked to create a Vessel.
Then it's thrown away.
And Kris takes over.
But… what if the Vessel wasn’t truly gone?
🧠 Theory: The Vessel Is the ITEM
Think about it:
- The inventory is the body of the Vessel.
- The ITEM command is its purpose.
- "Vessel" literally means container — a place for the soul.
Maybe someday, when Kris rips out our soul again…
It won’t come back to him.
It’ll go to the Vessel — where it belongs.
And the soul will be the item that finally gives the Vessel life.
🧩 Final Symbolism
- 🟥 FIGHT → Chara (Destruction)
- 🟨 ACT → Kris (Choice)
- 🟦 MERCY → Frisk (Compassion)
- 🟩 ITEM → Vessel (Hope to continue)
