Question about Del Mar Race Track

Looking at Del Mar policy:

Can you really buy general admission tickets, bring folding chairs, an umbrella, and a big cooler of food and (non-alcoholic) drinks, and set up in the trackside apron?

Has anyone done this and can confirm it’s fine? Even on busy days?
