Superman (2025) discussion

Just got out of the preview and I am very curious to see what the common consensus is. But proud to report I will be immune because I am a mark for the way they’re finally portraying Big Blue on screen.

Take Matt Reeves’ Batman movie. Imagine a movie that is a complete 180 in every way. There lies Superman, with a main character and performance that might nail Clark Kent every bit as much as Pattinson nailed the vigilante. all respect to Cavil, Welling, and Caine, but Corenswet really embodied the inherent goodness in a way no one quite has since Reeve.

Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult could not have been cast better. We all see why Clark would be a fool not to fall in love with Lois Lane

As for the movie itself? It’s very of a piece with the rest of James Gunn’s work over the last 12 years. Big, silly, heart on its sleeve. Sometimes too cute? But I appreciate that he toned down his edgier sensibilities to give us Superman for All Seasons.

Regardless of where this new DCU is going, I’d be excited to see this core cast (especially the underutilized Daily Planet staff). Wendell Pierce gets one very very good moment.
