Fuel Pump Replacement? Loud Buzzing

As the title suggests, the buzz or hum of the fuel pump has become quite a bit louder in my VW Golf 2004. None of the other symptoms such as sputtering or loss of power have occurred, however I am reading that a louder than normal buzz (can't hear it with the air on or music) is reason enough to change the fuel pump. If I'm not experiencing the other symptoms should I hold off? Or just do it now to get it dealt with.
