How did you gauge how much inventory to send Amazon for FBA?

I’m a new publisher with my books ready to ship. I will be using FBA but I’m not sure how much inventory I should have Amazon store since there is a cost associated with storage. How did you decide and what method did you use to make sure stock was always available? I would hate to have a prospective buyer see unavailable on my listing.
